The Delorean in Back the Future was almost a refrigerator

And a bunch of other stuff you didn't know about Back to the Future.

1. In the first draft of the story, the time machine was supposed to be a refrigerator, rather than a car.How they planned to get a refrigerator to 88 mile an hour is anyones guess. Oh no, the Libyans! Get in the Fridge.
   
2. There are 4 Deloreans in 1955.
   The one Marty came in for the first film, the one old Biff came in from the future, the one Marty and Doc came in from the future to save it from old Biff, and the one left in the old mine for Marty to find.
   
3. The Movie was almost called ‘Spaceman from Pluto’.
   During production, the head of Universal studios, sent a memo asking to change the name of the film to ‘Spaceman from Pluto’. Spielberg cunningly sent a memo back, thanking him for his very funny joke. The subject was not raised again.
   
4. Biff Tannen was named after a Universal executive Ned Tannen.
   Simply because the executive pissed off Zemeckis and Gale when they were working on the movie ‘I want to hold you hand’. He was Apparently a bit of a dick.
   
5. Colombia Pictures were offered a script of the movie and rejected it.
   They said it wasn’t sexual enough.
   
6. Disney Studios also rejected the script.
   Saying it was too dirty.
   
7. Jeff Goldblum almost played doc brown.
   Also considered for that role were: John Lithgow and Dudley Moore.
   
8. Tim Robbins was supposed to play Biff Tannen.
   
9. Marty McFly was almost played by the Karate Kid, Ralph Macchio.
   
10. Eric Stoltz actually did play Marty.
    They even started filming the first film with Stoltz as Marty. But Zemeckis fired him half way through and cast Michael J. Fox instead. Some of the scenes in the film still have Stoltz as Marty.
    
11. A little Elijah Wood plays the bratty future kids who doesn’t want to use his hands.
    I mean, Elijah Wood is still kind of little. But here he was a kid.
    
12. In the original version of the movie, Einstein was a chimp.
    
13. Billy Zane got his break on Back to the Future, playing one of Biff’s thugs.
    
14. Marty’s Gibson guitar model didn’t come out until 1958.
    3 years after the events of the movie.
